The Gurdwara

History & Welcome

Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Gurdwara opened at 32 St Andrew’s Drive in the late 1960s, founded by the Bhat Sikh Community. For over 50 years, the local Sikh community has been congregating here every Sunday, sharing langar with all who come. The Gurdwara Sahib has a religious priest (Granthi Ji) who conducts religious duties, and a dedicated committee that manages the affairs of the temple. The Gurdwara also operates as the SGTB Education & Cultural Charity, running Punjabi language classes, Kirtan lessons, and community programs.

Langar

The Gurdwara Sahib has a free community kitchen called ‘Langar’ where meals are served to anyone, irrespective of religion, caste, gender, economic status or ethnicity. Langar is a fundamental principle of Sikhism, serving to establish equality amongst all people.
